Canzano Bids Jax Fond Farewell
Well, not exactly: The Oregonian’s star sports columnist is glad Portland’s indoor lacrosse franchise is outta here.
While Portland Sportsman’s official position holds that all sports are worthy, it is indeed hard to shed many tears for a franchise playing a mutant, commercialized indoor version of a perfectly good outdoor game. While we are not comfortable with his gratuitous jab at the WNBA, we’re glad to see Canzano—who, less than two years ago, conducted a mocking radio interview with Major League Soccer commissioner Don Garber, repeatedly denigrating the league and sport before hanging up on his “guest”—now says he welcomes MLS.

I’m looking forward to giving Canzano a fond farewell.

The Oregonian box outside of the cafe in which I am currently sitting features a photo of Canzano with text immediately below that reads “America’s No. 1 Sports Columnist”.
The qualifier that I’m almost positive has been omitted is: “… for drunk and/or illiterate people.”
That’s a snap, BTW.

what it really shows is that the best sports columns and columnists appear nowhere in print, unless you hit CTRL P or buy the free darko book.
